Thames Philharmonic Choir - ‘Elijah’
On 28 March, Thames Philharmonic Choir are singing Mendelssohn's Elijah at Cadogan Hall,
Soloists Sophie Benfield, Bernadette Johns, Matthew Sotillo-Cooke, Johannes Moore, accompanied by the Beaufoy Sinfonia, and conducted by Harry Bradford.
The choir's current scholars will also be taking solo roles, adding to what promises to be a powerful and memorable performance.
A towering Romantic masterpiece, Elijah is rich in epic drama, emotional depth, and unforgettable musical moments and moves between blazing confrontation and quiet trust. From the electrifying Baal scenes to the radiant triumph of Thanks be to God, and the tender beauty of He, watching over Israel, this is music that grips the heart as much as it dazzles the ear. Mendelssohn’s spectacular orchestral colour, rousing choruses, and expressive solo writing ensure the drama never lets up.
