Thames Philharmonic Choir: Awake, Rejoice! An evening of festive music

Awake, Rejoice! Kick off Christmas with TPC!

Thames Philharmonic Choir kicks off the Christmas season with an evening of festive music on Saturday 6 December at 7.30pm at All Saints Kingston.

At the heart of the programme are two masterpieces:

🎶 JS Bach’s Cantata Wachet Auf (often known as Sleepers Awake) – one of his best-loved works, weaving together a well-known Lutheran hymn with poetry inspired by the Song of Songs, full of dramatic recitatives and love-duets.

🎶 Mozart’s joyful Coronation Mass in C major – written in Salzburg in 1779 and famously performed at the coronation of Francis II as Holy Roman Emperor in 1792.

The evening concludes with heart-warming carols marking both Advent and Christmas, with plenty of opportunity for you to dust off your vocal cords and join us in rousing renditions of seasonal favourites for choir and audience.

Richard Leach (organ)
