Putney Society Webinar - Ageism: The invisible prejudice in plain sight. 7:30pm on Monday 26th April 2021
Event Date: Apr 26, 2021
The Putney Society April webinar will explore Ageism.
As the name suggests, Ageism is bias, or different treatment based solely on age and no other justifiable criteria. The reason for shining a spotlight on it is that those affected suffer in silence; there are street demonstrations about it.
Successive governments have failed to ensure that the laws around ageism are enforced and not just there for window dressing.
About the speaker:
Janis Humberstone has long been interested in the way in which the Equalities legislation has evolved since the 1970s with its lacunas, illogicalities and unintended consequences. Ageism has long been the poor relation as far as the law is concerned and in her talk, Janis will explore the reasons why, and the measurable harms caused to those affected.
