The Society is a registered charity supporting the aims of the Civic Trust. Since 1959 the Society has brought pressure on those responsible for our local environment - often successfully.

The objects of the Society shall be to promote the preservation, development and improvement for the public benefit of the character and amenities of the Putney and Roehampton area and particularly of the lands and buildings of beauty or of historic, ecological or other public interest in that area.
In furtherence of these purposes but not otherwise the Society shall have the following powers:-

a) to stimulate public consciousness and appreciation of the beauty, history and character of Putney and Roehampton.

b) to encourage the preservation, development and improvement of the features which go to make pleasant and convenient the conditions and environment of all those persons who live or work in Putney and Roehampton; and

c) to promote high standards of planning, architecture and civic design in Putney and Roehampton.
