A tale of two commons - a mystery solved

Posted on Nov 30, 2016

For as long as anyone can remember, it has not been possible to see where Putney Lower Common, on its western boundary, abuts Barnes Common.  The woodland vegetation and shrubbery all merged into one rathe gloomy area.  As the two Commons have quite different administrations and regulations this has sometimes caused difficulties. Now the mystery has been solved.  The Wimbledon and Putney Commons conservators, after careful dleiberations with the Friends of Barnes Common, have cleared the boundary line of brambles and scrub and set out line of stout oak posts in the area between Queen's Ride and the Richmond Council playing fields to the north.  The boundary is now clear to all!
